Research Projects

Our current research focuses on how environmental and human factors impact dolphin populations. This work will inspire smarter management and
stronger protection for the dolphins of the Indian River Lagoon.

Freshwater Discharge Effects

We are analyzing behavioral shifts and habitat use by Indian River Lagoon dolphins during freshwater discharges from Lake Okeechobee.

Motorized Vessel Impacts:

Reproduction and Population Viability

We are involved in a decades-long,
multi-generational study of cow-calf pairs in the Indian River Lagoon dolphin population.
This data is imperative to determining the population's long-term viability and success.

Dolphin Predation
Behavior & Prey Species

This study involves observations
to determine dolphin feeding behaviors,
